Bat Injury Monitoring and Conservation

POOR BATS, COLLIDE INTO THINGS.

There are many bats monitoring that have been done around wind farm, and to mitigate bat mortality. But, none that have been done around solar panel and other tall glasses buildings. Little is known what happened to them around these acoustic mirror surfaces.

Do they collide and injured themselves, or do they exploit the area as these common objects could attract insects too?

For example, solar panels could attract polarotactic insects, thus lure birds to feed on them, which could be harmful if they collide into it. The same thing could happen to bats too.

We will observe if there is any effect of new smooth surfaces on bats behavior in natural habitat, as they are getting increasing in numbers. But, since they are too many smooth surfaces to be named around us, especially in the big cities of Hungary (possibly other countries around the world too!), we would love to call upon all public, both science and non-science based person to contribute in the research by collecting data or reporting to us when they observe or encounter any bat injuries or mortality.
