Acoustic? OMG!

Learning new thing!

Yeay.

So, before coming to Budapest, I am someone who works on bat’s diet.  Sort of. As at first, I wanted to research on ecosystem service of bats in Malaysia’s rice field. But somehow, the acoustic part have crossed my path.

Me, with zero knowledge about acoustic (okay, maybe I have 2% of basic acoustic knowledge because I joined two workshops handled by SEABCRU team before), coming to Budapest with probably little preparation to pursue my study, ON BATS ACOUSTIC. Aha!

Anyway, after two weeks arrived in Budapest perhaps, I got files from our friend, and I started to read identification key to learn on how to differentiate the call structure, what is the start and end frequencies, the call duration, and the feeding buzz. And later, having most of my nights try to figure out which species is. And got all frustrated when most of them are wrong! Lol in tears

But, it was all fun of course. Learning new thing is never a bad thing. You are stepping one step ahead from the previous you, even it take times 🙂

So know, I acquire a new skill which I hope I am getting better at (I must!) as the project progress. And I hope my supervisor will be super patience in teaching me stuff. Acoustic is kind of hard personally, but as life goes on, I know I need to explore outside my comfort zone too. Wish me luck!
